Blog Post #3: U.S Bombing of Iran

What happened?

So, basically, on Feb 28th, the U.S and Israel launched an attack on Iran. The US deemed this military operation “Epic Fury.” The goal of this attack was to take out Iran’s nuclear weapons. There have been significant civilian casualties, the total number is unknown, and Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed.

What led up to this

There were a number of factors that led up to the bombing of Iran, the most notable being that most countries have been worried about Iran’s possession of nuclear weapons. There have been repeated attempts by the US to get rid of Iran’s possession of nuclear weapons. In fact, in June of 2025, Trump launched an attack on Iran called “Midnight Hammer” which he claimed was a victory and that he had destroyed Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Yet we must launch another bombing?

What are the implications of this?

The implications of this are pretty severe, and some say it is the start of WW3, and although this seems unlikely, it cannot be completely ruled out. But the more immediate threat is Iran’s response to these attacks and the harm to civilians at the hands of Iran, Israel and the US’s hands. Already, Iran has responded by sending a barrage of missiles at Israeli and American bases in the area. Already, at least 6 American soldiers have been killed in Iran’s retaliation with more wounded. Additionally, Trump has raised the possibility of sending in troops on the ground which would certainly result in more needless deaths. The civilian casualties of the original attacks are not to be discarded either with reports of a missile hitting a girl’s school killing over 100 children in Iran.

Is it unconstitutional?

Yes, Trump’s actions are clearly in violation of the US constitution. according to section 1, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution, “The Congress shall have Power . . . ] To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;” So, only congress can declare war and only congress can make decisions on attacks. This is now what Trump did, instead, he went ahead and attacked without any foreclosure to congress or any other body of government, which is not allowed. However, you all may be thinking, but what about that whole imminent threat thing. Well, it basically says that the president can act without congressional approval if there is a national emergency (something that requires immediate taking care of in the interests of national security). So that’s fine and reasonable; the problem lies in the fact that there was in fact, no imminent threat. Iran, without disruption would have been able to build missiles that reached the US by 2035. That is most certainly not imminent! Even more damning is that Reuters says that the Pentagon told Congress that there was no sign that Iran was going to attack the US first. Moving on to International Law

My take

The US is in the wrong. Plain and simple. Trump was out of constitutional rights and his actions have killed civilians and soldiers. There was just no reason to bomb Iran except to stroke his massive ego. Trump needs to learn that just because he can do something doesn’t mean he should, that his ego is less important than lives and that when we bomb another country for no good reason, the world doesn’t respect us.

I also think it’s his way of covering up his massive role in the Epstein files. Although destroying Iran’s nuclear weapons could protect us in the future, if you do it unconstitutionally then your just setting up for more chaos in the future. Anyway yeah I agree👍

So, the author here. First, thank you so much for commenting as it let's me know that actual people are reading this instead of it just being used as AI training data. Second, I partially agree with what you're saying because although we should destroy Iran's nuclear weapons at some point, we have to wait until there is an actual threat against us that warrants military action, which there was not in this instance.
